Bailey is picked out by a great cross from the right-hand side, but can't convert, before Atletico respond. Torres lumbers forward and drills in a low cross, but Leno is able to push the ball behind ahead of Correa.

GOOOOOOOOAL! TORRES MAKES IT 4-2! What a huge goal for Atletico. The Spaniard is picked out by a great cross from the right-hand side and directs a good header home from close-range. What a relief for the away side.
Vrsaljko scampers to the byline and lifts a wonderful cross onto Torres' forehead.
85'
Correa is found making tracks in behind the Leverkusen back four, but a bad first touch from the Argentine substitute allows for a defender to get back goalside and deny the Atletico forward.
84'
Wide from Kampl! The Slovenia international threatens from the right-hand side and dip a cross-cum-shot towards the back post, but the ball flashes straight out for a goal-kick. Atletico are remaining very deep indeed.
82'
Atletico's defending is getting gradually more desperate, with Leverkusen pushing on and growing more in confidence. The hosts break down the left-hand side, with Wendell dancing to the byline, but a low cross is gobbled up by Moya. So close to picking out Hernandez!
80'
Close for Hernandez! Savic makes a vital block to make up for his own goal. The Mexican star shoots from close-range but is denied by the central defender, with Moya slightly out of position! Moments later, the same man is found near the front post by a cross from the left, but he strikes Filipe Luis with the goalkeeper flummoxed.

Description
78'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces Y. Carrasco.
Á. Correa enters the game and replaces A. Griezmann.
Carrasco is withdrawn, with Torres introduced. The Spaniard will go up top, with Correa going out to the right flank.
Correa is brought into the game, with Griezmann given a rest. Simeone is clearly thinking about the next leg already.
76'
Leverkusen scamper down the left-hand side, before whipping in a delivery, but Moya isn't tested as the ball skips away from the danger zone. Atletico are living dangerously, and Gameiro's withdrawal might have sent out the wrong message to his players.
74'
C. Aránguiz gets yellow.
Gabi goes down after a painful challenge from Aranguiz, with the Chilean midfielder given a booking for his trouble. The Leverkusen player disagrees, but that looked to be rather fierce.
72'
That change from Simeone has shown what Atletico will be doing in these late stages. Partey drives down the right and attempts to angle in a teasing cross, but Leno claims before Dragovic can do anything wrong with his clearance.
71'
T. Partey enters the game and replaces K. Gameiro.
Gameiro is withdrawn for the away side, after a fantastic performance, as Partey comes into the game to shore things up in midfield.
69'
Atletico are making things very hard for themselves, as Moya didn't appear to need to flap at that cross in the build-up to the own goal. It wasn't too long ago that he made a similar mistake against Celta Vigo in LaLiga. Simeone's men have given Leverkusen some hope.
67'
S. Savić is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
OWN GOAL! That makes it 3-2! Brandt drives down the left and whips in a great low cross, which forces Moya to come out. The Atletico goalkeeper parries the delivery onto Savic's knee, with the ball then rebounding into the back of the net.
66'
J. Pohjanpalo enters the game and replaces K. Bellarabi.
The goalscorer takes his leave, with Pohjanpalo adding a different attacking presence into the mix for Leverkusen.
65'
The home side continue to see more possession and ask questions of a resilient visiting defence, but Moya is being protected expertly. Even with Juanfran and Godin missing out due to injury, and with Oblak not fit yet, Simeone's men are making this look easy.
64'
Wendell gets yellow.
Wendell is the latest man to go into the book, with frustrations continuing to rise for Leverkusen.
62'
The second half started so well for Leverkusen, but that penalty conversion from Gameiro has taken the wind straight back out of their sails. Yet again, Atletico get forward at pace. Gameiro and Griezmann combine on the edge of the box, but a return pass into the clear finds the former straying narrowly offside.
60'
Half an hour remains for Atletico to see out, but as Leverkusen push forward in an attempt to close the gap they're only going to give Griezmann and Gameiro more space in behind to wreak havoc in. Schmidt might have to alter his defensive personnel or system, as they're far too open at the back.
58'
A. Dragović gets yellow.
Penalty goal scored by K. Gameiro for Atletico Madrid!
GOOOOOOOAL! GAMEIRO MAKES IT 3-1! The Frenchman takes the penalty that he won himself, thundering a powerful shot straight down the middle. Simeone goes crazy on the sideline.
Dragovic gets booked for tugging on Gameiro's shirt on the edge of the box. A penalty may have been harsh.
57'
PENALTY! Gameiro manages to sprint clear of Dragovic, before checking back and nutmegging the Austria international. The first contact appeared to be outside of the penalty area.
56'
K. Volland enters the game and replaces K. Havertz.
Havertz is withdrawn after a quiet evening, with Volland introduced to try and aid Leverkusen's resurgence.
54'
Koke tries to lift a cross into the box from deep on the left-hand side, but Leverkusen clear, with this contest remaining extremely open. Simeone won't be pleased with how Atletico have been dragged into trading opportunities since the restart. Carrasco checks in from the left, before shooting with his right, but the Belgian belts a terrible effort off-target.
52'
Atletico find themselves sitting very deep indeed, which is inviting the away side to get forward on the break when they can. Gameiro is released down the right-hand side yet again, and uses his pace to burst away from Kampl, but a low cross from the Frenchman narrowly evades Griezmann at the far post.
50'
OFF THE ANGLE OF POST AND BAR! Gameiro is found in some space inside the penalty area, before mustering up a shot with his left foot. The France international clatters a powerful shot into the frame of the goal. That was close. This second half has started at a great pace.
48'
K. Bellarabi has scored a goal for Bayer Leverkusen! Assist by B. Henrichs.
GOOOOOOOAL! LEVERKUSEN ARE BACK IN IT! Henrichs is fed down the right-hand side and whips in a good cross, finding Bellarabi in a pocket of space inside the penalty area. The German forward tucks a lovely finish across the goalkeeper and inside the far post. Game on!
Henrichs is found at the right byline and cuts back a smart cross.
47'
Leverkusen have a lot of substitutes warming up, despite making no changes at the break, which probably sends the message to the hosts that if they don't improve soon, they'll be hooked off. Koke tries to hook a pass over the top towards Griezmann, but the Frenchman is caught offside.
46'
We are back underway in the second half! We will have to see how the home side shape up, as Schmidt might have to consider some wholesale changes to try and muster a response out of this sorry Leverkusen side.
44'
Leverkusen are a little low on ideas, it seems, as this first half threatens to peter out ahead of the half-time whistle. Brandt sprints down the right and tries to combine with Havertz, but the teenager misplaced his end of a planned one-two. Atletico respond with a counter, but a pass from Gameiro is intercepted.
42'
Bellarabi tries to race down the left-hand side and get beyond Vrsaljko, but instead the Germany international is penalised for catching the heels of the former Sassuolo defender. That pretty much sums up Leverkusen's first half.
40'
Leverkusen are seeing more of the ball, in an attempt to muster up a response, but Moya hasn't been threatened. A Bellarabi cross sails out of play at the back post, before a quick pass towards Hernandez is played beyond the hosts' forward and through to Moya.
38'
Kampl tries to find Wendell out on the left-hand side, but the pass from the ex-Dortmund midfielder isn't quite right. Not that Leverkusen can hold it against him, he's been their best outlet. Moments later, Hernandez threatens from inside the box, but a shot from the Mexico international is deflected over the bar.
36'
Leverkusen need to try and tighten things up at the back, as their defensive four are all at sea. Dragovic and Toprak are being dragged all over the place by Gameiro's pace, intelligence and movement, with Griezmann drifting through this contest unchecked.
34'
Over the top from Griezmann! That was so nearly 3-0 and potentially goodnight to Leverkusen. Gameiro races down the right-hand side and cuts back a lovely ball to his compatriot, but the ex-Real Sociedad striker shoots over the crossbar with the aid of a deflection. Atletico are destroying their opponents on the break. That was an important stop from Leno.
32'
Leverkusen just can't quite offer any kind of cutting edge in the final third, with Hernandez feeding off scraps as a lone striker. Young Havertz is also having trouble finding space in the hole behind the Mexican. Atletico are defending well, with Moya having answers to everything that has been thrown at him so far.
30'
Moya makes a good save to deny Kampl's long-range shot, but the ball was heading wide already anyhow. The Spaniard pushes the ball behind for a corner, which is half-cleared initially, before Kampl shoots a long way wide of the left-hand post.
29'
Leverkusen threaten on the counter-attack, with Brandt using his speed to threaten down the left-hand side once again. Kampl has been looking great when attacking from deep. The German cuts a cross into the box, which forces Koke to slide in and make a block that deflects the ball just beyond the far post. Nearly an own goal there!
27'
Atletico are full of confidence now, with those two away goals bound to be invaluable for the second leg at Estadio Vicente Calderon. The visitors have been clinical, and Dragovic looks as though he wants the ground to swallow him up. Not a good start to this contest from Leverkusen.
25'
A. Griezmann has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by K. Gameiro.
GOOOOOOOAL! GRIEZMANN MAKES IT TWO! Gameiro is allowed to scamper forward on the counter-attack, and does well to wriggle away from Dragovic. The ex-Sevilla striker drags two defenders out of position, before finding his teammate in acres of space in the back post. He slots home and that's 2-0 Atletico. Poor mistake from the Austria international to start the whole move off.
Gameiro goes on a good run, before showing the intelligence to find his compatriot at the back post with the goal gaping.
24'
Brandt and Kampl combine in midfield yet again for Leverkusen, with Wendell then found on the left. The Brazilian cuts a cross into Brandt, who tries to open his body up, but the young winger is tackled simply. Atletico's two banks are four are hard to break down, as ever.
23'
Kampl has been the only man to make a difference for the home side in the final third so far, with Atletico appearing to be much more dangerous when allowed to mount attacks. A few misplaced passes are going amiss for Schmidt's side, as their keenness to answer Saul's goal struggles to translate into any impressive interplay.
21'
Atletico are doing well to keep Leverkusen in fairly nonthreatening areas of the field. Brandt races down the left, but Vrsaljko is protected well by Saul and the goalscorer dispossesses the pacey German with ease. Moments later, Hernandez has his first say in this game, but the Mexican striker can only curl a tame effort straight at Moya from 16 yards out.
19'
Leverkusen can't seem to put on any consistent pressure, with his game being characterised by breakaways and some impressive dribbling runs in the early stages. Simeone will be overjoyed with that away goal, and the travelling fans have responded by making even more noise. The hosts have to respond.
17'
Saúl has scored a goal for Atletico Madrid! Assist by Gabi.
GOOOOOOOAL! WHAT A FINISH FROM SAUL! The Spaniard cuts in from the right-hand side, as he did in last year's Champions League final, before curling an unstoppable left-footed effort into the top corner from an awkward angle. That is glorious stuff and Atletico lead.
Gabi slots a simple pass into Saul, and his younger teammate does the rest!
15'
B. Henrichs gets yellow.
Kampl works his way into the penalty area for Leverkusen with some lovely footwork, but the Slovenia international's low shot is denied on its way to goal by Savic! Moya might have struggled to get there, without the aid of his defender. The home side get themselves a corner as a result, but Atletico's goalkeeper claims it simply.
Henrichs picks up the first yellow card of the match, as the young right-back is penalised for catching Filipe Luis in the face with a stray arm. He will miss the next leg of the tie.
13'
Good clearance from Wendell in the end! Atletico break down the left and Filipe Luis does brilliantly to beat a man and whip in a cross, forcing the Brazilian left-back to concede another corner awkwardly. He almost netted an own goal as the ball cannons off the crossbar! This time, Griezmann manages to flick Koke's set-piece delivery towards the back post, but Jose Gimenez can't rise high enough to convert the second ball.
11'
Vrsaljko does brilliantly to burst down the right flank and battle his way beyond Wendell, but the Croatian's cross from the byline is charged down. Simeone will be pleased with how Atletico have looked to do their damage on the break. After a good opening surge from Leverkusen, the away side have settled in and are now trading blows.
9'
Great play from Atletico! Griezmann scampers down the right-hand side, with the Frenchman holding his run and then finding Carrasco on the overlap. The Belgium international dances to the byline and cuts back a dangerous cross, which forces Aranguiz into a near-post clearance. The resulting corner doesn't get whipped in at the first attempt, but Leno claims the eventual delivery.
7'
Atletico lift a long free-kick down to the right-hand side, but Gabi eventually gives the ball away. Simeone's men are yet to piece together a dangerous attack. Leverkusen's tails are most definitely up, and their fans are making plenty of noise. This is a tough start to proceedings for the away team.
5'
Brandt wriggles beyond a sliding tackle, before finding Bellarabi on the right. The German winger cuts infield and opens play out to the other flank, but Wendell is held up by plenty of Atletico shirts. Leverkusen maintain their pressure and find Brandt in space, but Henrichs' overlapping run comes to nothing due to a heavy pass into his path. Schmidt's men are manipulating their opponents well.
3'
Leverkusen work the ball out to the right-hand side, before Heinrichs whips in a cross from wide on the flank, but his cross fails to meet anyone in the penalty area. Moya doesn't even have to make a simple claim, the ball sails out of play harmlessly. Atletico are sitting quite deep to try and settle into this contest - but the hosts look in the mood.
1'
We are underway in the first half at BayArena! Atletico will be hoping to put in a professional away performance with their two banks of four, but Leverkusen will be trying to force their home advantage.
TEAM NEWS: Jan Oblak isn't rushed back from injury to start for Atletico, with Miguel Angel Moya continuing in goal. Jose Maria Gimenez starts at centre-back, with Sime Vrsaljko at right-back, as Diego Godin and Juanfran miss out due to injury complaints. Yannick Carrasco and Koke start out wide, with Kevin Gameiro and Antoine Griezmann making up an intimidating partnership up front.
TEAM NEWS: 17-year-old Kai Havertz gets the nod for his Champions League debut in midfield, with Charles Aranguiz offering some fire alongside him. Javier Hernandez is deployed up front, with Kevin Kampl and Karim Bellarabi tasked with offering some invention up front. Halkan Calhanoglu is still suspended for Leverkusen, which gives Havertz and Julian Brandt more opportunities to impress.
Both of these teams have picked up their form in the last couple of weeks, with Kevin Gameiro even scoring a five-minutes hat-trick in LaLiga action at the weekend. That flurry of goals means that Leverkusen will have to keep their eye out for him tonight, although the hosts have Chicharito to call upon up front themselves. The Mexican star already has six Champions League goals under his belt at his current club, and will be looking to add to his tally.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of Atletico Madrid's away trip to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, as Diego Simeone's men look to hark back to their round of 16 win against the same opposition back in 2014/2015. Los Colchoneros needed penalties to do it two years ago, but those won't be happening tonight. What we can promise you is a hard-fought battle at BayArena.
HALF-TIME! Atletico go into the interval with a 2-0 lead over Leverkusen, which leaves the hosts in a rather precarious position heading into the second leg already. Saul and Griezmann grabbed the goals, and it could have been more, but for a good save from Leno. Schmidt has a lot to say at the break, you'd imagine.
FULL-TIME! Atletico close out a thrilling 4-2 away win over Leverkusen, which sets the tie up interestingly for the second leg in Madrid. Goals from Saul, Griezmann, Gameiro and Torres give Simeone's men an advantage, but a second-half strike from Bellarabi and a Savic own goal haven't ended this as a contest. That's all that we have time for, we hope to see you again next time.
