Kane tries to finish this match the way he started, with a goal, but he gets the contact all wrong as he completely scuffs an effort high and wide of the far corner from 20 yards. He buries his head in his hands after that, knowing he should have done better with it.
90'
There will be a minimum of three minutes added on at the end of this match.
86'
Fernando Llorente enters the game and replaces D. Alli.
A second Spurs change sees Llorente enter the fray, but it's Alli who comes off to make room, not Kane.
82'
Into the final 10 minutes and the intensity has gone from the match. Spurs are in no rush to do much of anything, while Cardiff have accepted their fate. It just hasn't been the start to 2019 they had hoped for.
78'
Possession is back with Spurs as they try and run the clock down again, bringing an end to that positive spell from Cardiff. The hosts actually have just one fewer shot on target in this match, but the scoreline is hardly indicative of that.
76'
O. Skipp enters the game and replaces Son Heung-Min.
Son is replaced by Skipp for the final 15 minutes.
72'
N. Mendez-Laing enters the game and replaces B. De Cordova-Reid.
Mendez-Laing comes on to replace Reid with the second change of the match for the hosts.
71'
Hoilett nearly catches Lloris with a cross-cum-shot that the Spurs keeper manages to react to, tipping it over the bar for a corner. That will allow Cardiff to make their second change.
69'
Approaching the final 20 minutes and while the result is basically settled, Cardiff will be hoping to finish strong and at least break the clean sheet. Hoilett is certainly looking lively for them and he's surely going to be involved should Cardiff find a consolation goal.

Description
63'
Spurs are back on the ball, and these long spells in possession have really helped them to thwart any momentum Cardiff have hoped to generate, while milking precious time off the clock.
61'
It's been a quiet second half from Spurs' perspective as they have hardly got into the final third. Cardiff have looked a bit livelier, with Hoilett at the heart of their most threatening attacks, but the hosts still aren't generating enough to really worry Spurs.
59'
J. Ralls enters the game and replaces Camarasa.
Ralls is brought on to replace Camarasa in midfield.
53'
S. Bamba gets yellow.
A poor challenge near the halfway line sees Bamba slide late into Son, which will see the Cardiff centre-back into the book with what is the first yellow card of the match.
52'
GOOD CHANCE! Hoilett has been on for less than 10 minutes and he's already got on the end of their best chance of the match as he shows great determination to get on the end of Paterson's tame cross in from the right, beating Trippier onto the end of it, but his bouncing header is collected by Lloris at his near post!
50'
Possession being dominated by Spurs in the opening stages of this second half, as they keep the ball near the halfway line with Reid the lone man pressing high up to win it back for Cardiff. It's an impossible ask for him, and it's making life very easy on the visitors.
46'
J. Hoilett enters the game and replaces J. Murphy.
Hoilett comes on for the second half for Cardiff who are searching for a spark in attack, as Murphy is replaced.
Back underway at Cardiff City Stadium!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: CARDIFF CITY 0-3 TOTTENHAM.
45'
There will be just one minute added on at the end of this first half.
44'
Spurs have regained control as they look to run the final seconds off the clock and get this match into half-time with the scoreline as is.
42'
The hosts remain camped out in attack, looking for a route back into this match. They're committing plenty of bodies forward and why not at this point. A long throw is flicked on dangerously, eventually leading to a good chance for Bamba, but the offside flag denies him anyhow.
40'
Cardiff are seeing a bit more of the ball as the first half fizzles to a conclusion, but they're not finding the bit of quality they need in the final third. There is space to be found on the flanks, especially out left where Cunningham and Murphy are operating, but the quality of the balls into the box have been poor.
36'
There's little tempo to speak of in this match as Spurs have completely suffocated the pace. In doing so they have also sucked the life out of the stadium as the atmosphere is almost completely gone, with the only noise coming from the traveling supporters.
34'
Cardiff have seen precious little of the ball over the last 20 minutes, as it's been far from enjoyable for their attacking players who have been left stranded. Paterson has been roaming about, actually playing more in midfield than anywhere else, with Reid looking to be leading the line as something of a false nine.
32'
Spurs have been clinical, undoubtedly, but this scoreline is a bit harsh on Cardiff. The visitors have dominated possession, but they've not exactly carved out chance after chance. They have scored now with all three of their shots on target, and all three of their chances. It's that sharpness in attack that has seen Cardiff punished.
30'
Warnock's side had won three of their last four Premier League home matches coming into today, but their most recent outing at this venue was a 5-1 defeat to Manchester United. The way these opening 30 minutes have progressed, Cardiff are headed for another embarrassing defeat if they can't tighten things up.
26'
Son Heung-Min has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by H. Kane.
Kane provides the assist as he's been involved in two of Spurs' three goals inside of 30 minutes.
WHAT A FINISH! 3-0 SPURS! Three goals and three points surely for Spurs, who are running riot in Cardiff! It's an absolutely terrific finish from Son who takes a pass from Kane and takes on a defender, doing brilliantly to get the ball out from his feet and tuck a finish in at the far post!
24'
It's all too comfortable for Spurs at the moment as they refuse to relinquish possession, while showing no real desire to rush the ball forward. Their movement off the ball has been excellent, which is allowing them to be so suffocating in possession.
20'
Cardiff's intensity is fading as they grow a bit frustrated with their inability to win the ball back, as Spurs opt to play keep-away inside their own half. Eriksen is dropped incredibly deep, playing between the two centre-backs as he pulls the strings with his side in possession.
16'
Cardiff are working hard to try and produce a similar response, but Spurs are looking quite comfortable both on and off the ball. With a two-goal cushion they are in no rush to push the tempo, instead sucking the pace out of the match to try and get the crowd out of it.
14'
Still a lot of time to play here but that does feel like a bit of a dagger for Cardiff, who had responded quite well to Spurs' early opener. There was a sense of belief in the ground that they could get back into the match, but the task just got that much harder for them.
12'
C. Eriksen has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur! Assist by Son Heung-Min.
SPURS DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! 2-0! A wonderful bit of skill from Eriksen who is presented with the ball on the edge of the penalty area with a lot of work still to do, but a couple of teasing touches help him open up space for a shot, which he cunningly rolls in at the near post with Etheridge rooted to his spot!
Assist Heung-Min Son
11'
A couple of dangerous Cardiff attacks down the left flank put the Spurs defence under some pressure. Camarasa's delivery is the most threatening as it just looked poised to hang up there for Paterson at the far post, but Rose produces a terrific piece of defending to head behind!
9'
The combative spirit of Cardiff is showing nicely here as they work hard to produce a response. Spurs are looking confident in possession, however, and are moving the ball forward quickly and threateningly when they win it back.
5'
Cardiff have struggled against the Premier League's top clubs and this is exactly the sort of start they couldn't afford. Having to play from behind works completely against the sort of approach Warnock will have wanted to take today.
3'
H. Kane has scored a goal for Tottenham Hotspur!
DREADFUL START FOR CARDIFF! 1-0 SPURS! It's exactly the sort of start they needed, and it's a gift from the hosts! Kane starts the move forward in midfield and swings the ball out wide. The ensuing cross in isn't dealt with and Morrison's unconvincing clearance bounces off Kane and into the back of the net!
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Cardiff City are in all blue as they get the match underway, with Spurs wearing their white tops.
Happy New Year and welcome to live coverage of this Premier League match as Cardiff City welcome Tottenham to Wales!
Cardiff will look back fondly on 2018 as the year they marked their return to the top flight, and as the calendar turns they will be hoping to build on that momentum in 2019 as they aim to cement their position in the Premier League.
Neil Warnock’s side enjoyed a strong end to the year with a surprise 1-0 victory at Leicester City, while winning three of their last four at Cardiff City Stadium – the exception being a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Manchester United which they will be hoping not to suffer a repeat of today.
Spurs had relatively cruised through the festive period up until Saturday’s surprise defeat at home to Wolves, the sort of result against a non ‘big-six’ side that has been a rare occurrence under Mauricio Pochettino.
As they turn the page to 2019, Spurs will look to get the new year off on a better foot than how 2018 ended, ahead of an incredibly big couple of months ahead for Pochettino’s side with tough tests awaiting in the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
CARDIFF (4-5-1): Neil Etheridge; Bruno Ecuele Manga, Sol Bamba, Sean Morrison, Greg Cunningham; Bobby Reid, Victor Camarasa, Aron Gunnarsson, Harry Arter, Josh Murphy; Callum Paterson.
SUBS: Lee Peltier, Alex Smithies, Joe Ralls, Gary Madine, Junior Hoilett, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Joe Bennett.
TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose; Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks; Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen; Harry Kane.
SUBS: Oliver Skipp, Juan Foyth, Lucas Moura, Kyle Walker-Peters, Ben Davies, Fernando Llorente, Paulo Gazzaniga.
It took less than three minutes for Harry Kane to score his first goal of 2019, and Spurs have not looked back. Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min added to Cardiff's misery as Tottenham look poised to return to second place in the Premier League.
It's been an incredibly clinical half of football for Spurs who have scored with all three of their shots on target. Cardiff only have themselves to blame, however, as a pair of poor defensive touches led directly to Kane and Eriksen's goals, which have essentially put the match to bed with a half of football still to play.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
